Becoming Part of the PACEY Family

At PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years) we recognise that being a nanny can be an incredibly fulfilling role. In fact our recent survey found that almost all (96%) of nannies surveyed find their job rewarding.

You will inevitably form close bonds with the children you care for, which is not surprising considering you are looking after every aspect of that child’s wellbeing. But we also recognise that you need support. Sometimes the role of a nanny can feel quite isolating and we often hear from nannies who say they can feel lonely, but PACEY is here to help provide support and guidance in your role.

PACEY is a not-for-profit professional association offering membership packages for nannies, and in this blog we cover what it means to be a PACEY member:

Demonstrating Quality

Sometimes you may feel more like a member of the family, but ultimately you are a childcare professional and you in turn need to be supported and developed in your role. Continuing with your own professional development is really important to keep on top of changes to legislation, and ensure you have the most up to date you need to provide the best quality childcare you possibly can.

Being a member of PACEY means you sign up to a set of professional standards, demonstrating your ongoing commitment to your career and their professional development, and the children in your care will in turn benefit from your increased expertise.

With access to free training across a wide range of topics from safeguarding to schemas; as a PACEY nanny you will also have preferential rates of other more in-depth online training courses including food hygiene.

Be Inspired

Your job is unique and you will know all too well there is no time to rest on your laurels. Through PACEY resources you can feel inspired by ideas and creative projects to help you continue to provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment for the children in your care, while planning and supporting play and educational activities. In MyPACEY, our online members-only area, you’ll have access to engaging videos, bite-sized factsheets and in-depth practice guides, plus sample policies and procedures.

PACEY offers registered and non-registered nannies a whole raft of free training, practice guides, factsheets and policy briefings to help them develop as childcare professionals.

Ensuring you are protected

Peace of mind for you and the parents of the children you care for is really important, and as part of the PACEY Nanny membership you have exclusive access to that all-important Public Liability Insurance.

This means that if a child in your care injures themselves, and you are found to be responsible, any damages you may have to pay are insured for. It means that there is always a way to pay for any accidents. And because children are the most valuable thing we have, PLI for childcarers needs to be complex and complete, to cover you for every eventuality.

PACEY offers specially designed PLI to give the broadest range of cover to nannies, at the best price possible. Working closely with our insurance providers, we need to ensure that we deliver the best policies to our members, year on year. Our priority is our members, and the children they care for and our standard PLI cover is for £10,000,000.

In addition, membership provides you with legal advice and support when you need it, as well as cover for legal expenses.

Support for you

You’re busy looking after children. But who’s looking after you? When you call the PACEY helpline, trained professionals are there to provide practical advice, answer your questions about childcare issues or simply give you a second opinion on something you’re not sure about.

PACEY is also strong voice for those childcare professionals, working with government and regulators at all levels to help influence childcare policy development and to speak for childcare and early years professionals across England and Wales. We represent you directly to government, by speaking at Select Committee inquiries and having face-to-face meetings with Ministers.

All PACEY nannies have the opportunity to advertise their services on PACEY’s free childcare directory SearchChildcare and you’ll also receive Childcare Professional – the must-read title for anyone working in the early years sector, packed full of news, views and creative ideas.

There are even more perks to being part of PACEY – you can earn while you shop with a TopCashback offer for members; save money on essential business products and toys in the PACEY shop and also receive big discounts on essential training such as first aid.
